As part of our recent road trip from Florida to New Orleans we did an extremely short stop in Mobile, Alabama. I add the word "extremely" because it was only about 1 hour. However, I take my pit stops seriously and never want to miss out on vegan eats. After looking at the options, triangulating this with our route and not wanting to go too far off course I selected Jason's Deli.
As always my first port of call when going anywhere new is Happy Cow but I have to say this a great post from The Nomadic Vegan, so if you're looking to spend more than an hour in Mobile you should definitely check this out.
So this is short and sweet but I loved Mobile's Jason's Deli so much that I simply had to write about it and dedicate a post to it. I really wish I'd taken more photos because they have a brilliant salad bar, which I would estimate is about 80% vegan. I was in need of a health kick, I wanted lots of healthy greens, vegetables, seeds, nut and grains and Jason's Deli was the perfect choice. It was about US$10 for an unlimited salad plate. The staff are knowledgeable and have access to the ingredient information so if you're not sure about anything it takes 2 seconds to find out.
Here's my mountain of a salad and my boyfriend's veggie hummus wrap...Go check it out and chow down! The address is Jason's Deli, 3756 Airport Blvd, Mobile, AL 36608, USA. Pssst...there are others all over the country and you can find the locations via their website here
